MODERN GREEK SHIPPING LEADERS

An impressive album of rare photographs, documents and biographies that captures the journey of 25 physical leaders of contemporary Greek shipping was presented at Yacht Club of Greece. Among the protagonists have been the Vardinogiannis and Vernikou families, Mr. Miltiadis and Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, Mr. Stavros and Ms. Irene Ntaifas, Mr. Athanasios Martinos and Mr. Byron Vassiliades, the ‘Benjamin’ of the Greek Shipping, as the historian and writer Mr. Sarados Kargakos announced him.
Mr. Byron Vassiliades is the Chairman of the company Antipollution SA and he is a member of a young and promising community with high activity in the fields of environment, energy and new technologies.
ANTIPOLLUTION SA, as a member of Vassiliades Group of Companies, is the leading Port Reception Facilities Company operating in Greece for the last 70 years with a global expansion.
Antipollution has established innovative environmental solutions for the shipping industry, focusing on port reception facility services, emergency environmental response services, oil spill response services, wreck removal, MRV and ballast water treatment services.
During the event, Mr. Byron Vassiliades mentioned: It is a great honor to be included in the album. Greek shipping industry has offered many significant achievements. The album was presented by Mr. Vassilis Korkidis – President of the Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Piraeus, Ms. Irene Ntaifas – Authorised Municipal Culture Counsellor Municipality of Piraeus, Mr. Sarados Kargakos – Historian – Author and Mr. Panagiotis Spyropoulos – Publisher – Author.
Also, the presentation has been attended by the Piraeus Metropolitan Mr. Seraphim, the Deputy Minister of Marine and Islands Policy, Mr. Nektarios Santorineos, the former president of ‘New Democracy’ Mr. John Plakiotakis and a number of well-known and powerful names from the shipping industry.
