Antipollution, a member of V Group, successfully completed an extensive programme of emergency response drills across key ports in Greece, reaffirming its critical role in the immediate response to marine pollution incidents.
The exercises took place at the ports of Piraeus, Elefsina, Rafina, Igoumenitsa, Patras, Nafplio, Heraklion and Chalkida, covering a wide geographical range and simulating realistic ship-related pollution scenarios.
The initiative forms part of the broader effort to enhance national operational preparedness, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy to ensure a high level of response to marine pollution incidents.
During the exercises, Antipollution’s specialised teams:
- activated operational response protocols immediately
- deployed pollution response equipment both at sea and onshore
- coordinated marine and land-based assets in real time
- implemented safe waste recovery and management procedures
Particular emphasis was placed on:
- response time
- coordination of multiple operational assets
- the proper and safe use of specialised equipment
- and the effective protection of the marine environment
Antipollution has extensive experience and maintains contracts with the vast majority of ports across the country, serving as a key partner in the prevention and response to environmental incidents.
These exercises form part of an ongoing strategy of training, evaluation and operational improvement, ensuring that the company’s teams remain fully prepared to respond promptly to critical incidents.
