In a powerful demonstration of environmental commitment, Helmepa, in collaboration with various companies, spearheaded a Mega Joint Clean-Up at SEF Athens on November 17, 2023. This initiative marked Helmepa’s contribution to a global campaign aimed at raising awareness about the crucial need for nature restoration.
Antipollution was one of the key partners in this endeavor by providing volunteers for waste collection but also taking on the responsibility of collecting and processing the gathered waste. The collective efforts resulted in an impressive haul, with a total of 860 kg of waste collected during the clean-up.
The collected waste was carefully transported to Antipollution’s authorized facility, located in Aspropyrgos. The goal is to manage waste in an environmentally sound manner, aligning with the shared commitment to sustainable practices.
Integral to the success of the clean-up was the provision of waste collecting equipment by Helmepa. Additionally, participants were introduced to the Debris Tracker, a mobile app designed to empower citizen scientists to make a difference by contributing data on plastic pollution in their communities.
This collaborative effort not only made a tangible impact on the immediate environment but also served as a testament to the power of collective action in promoting environmental responsibility. As we look towards a more sustainable future, initiatives like these underscore the importance of ongoing efforts to restore and preserve the natural world.
