The lifted Stern of the MV CABRERA, which was refloated from Andros and towed to the Port of Lavrion, was presented on Friday 27 October 2017 to press representatives.

During project official presentation organized by the contractors: Smit salvage, Megatugs and Antipollution, the “present” was given by the Hellenic Minister of Mercantile marine and Island Policy Panagiotis Kouroumplis, the Deputy Minister Nektarios Santorinios, Dimosthenis Bakopoulos CEO of Public Ports Authority, the President of the Organization of Port of Lavrion Dimitris Nikolaou.

“We are proud of what we have achieved with the support of the Ministry and the Coast Guard. The three companies (SMIT, MEGATUGS, ANTIPOLLUTION) have done a very difficult task,” said Antipollution President Byron Vasilliades.

I would like to thank the two Greek and one foreign companies for their efforts, which led to great results. This is proof that the use of modern technology can lead to enhanced environmental protection initiatives and tackle the important challenges that we face today. It is my belief that this is just the first step towards effective environmental emergency management and many more will follow, stated the Minister, Mr. Panagiotis Kouroumplis.
